Projectors & Lenses
Choose the light engine and optics that match your surface, distance, environment and content—then verify the complete projector and enclosure combination.
We help plan suitable 4K, high-brightness and short-throw systems for holiday home mapping, architectural features, retail exhibits, objects, products, signs and professional AV installations.
Exact models, brightness, throw ratios, lens options and availability must be verified against current manufacturer data before a quote.

Five decisions before selecting a model
01. Surface & image size
Capture the real dimensions and shape of the mapped house, sculpture, object or display, including projected coverage and surface color.
02. Throw & lens position
Measure available throw distance and desired image width. Confirm native lens throw range, offset, shift and any obstructions.
03. Brightness & ambient light
Review contrast, surface reflectivity, viewing distance, time of day and required image impact. Stated projector lumens alone do not guarantee results.
04. Resolution & content
Compare 4K and high-output 1080p choices against mapping detail, viewing distance, content source and budget.
05. Environment & heat
Determine indoor, outdoor, coastal or humid conditions; maximum projector wattage, airflow, mounting and service access.
06. Control & playback
Plan media servers, supported signal formats, synchronization, scheduling and future mapping software requirements with the projector.
Projector configurations to evaluate
| Solution | Typical consideration | Verification required |
|---|---|---|
| 4K projection | Detailed architectural mapping and close-viewed content | Native/imaging resolution, optics, brightness and source handling |
| High-brightness 1080p | Large or demanding projection where output and cost matter more than pixel density | Actual manufacturer-rated brightness, contrast, throw and image quality |
| Short-throw configurations | Restricted throw distances or equipment near the surface | Throw ratio, lens availability, distortion, offset and usable image size |
| Interchangeable-lens systems | Commercial AV and architectural applications with specialized geometry | Exact lens compatibility, lens-shift range, mounting and service access |
Trusted projector and lens options
Our selection process prioritizes current technical documentation and suitability for the intended installation. BenQ is a priority partner for compact and short-throw evaluations; other professional manufacturers are reviewed according to the project.
Priority strategic partner. Evaluate suitable 4K and compact/short-throw options first where brightness, cost, lens geometry and enclosure fit align.
Review applicable projector and lens families for installation geometry, light output and support requirements.
Consider appropriate installation and professional projection systems, with exact lens and power data required.
Evaluate applicable home, education and commercial products for projector fit, throw and image requirements.
Review professional and large-venue projection solutions when the application calls for that equipment class.
Consider professional projection configurations subject to verified system performance and lens specification.
Review installation-focused projection options using current model-specific geometry, thermal and control documentation.
Mention of a manufacturer is not an assertion of a current dealer agreement, stocked model, approved model fit or manufacturer certification unless separately confirmed.
Enclosure compatibility matters
Homeline
Homeowner-focused fan-cooled enclosures for appropriately sized projectors in suitable, generally mild locations. Physical and thermal fit must be checked.
Integrator
Professional fan-cooled enclosure family for suitable controlled environments. Verify intake, exhaust, maximum power and installation access.
Defender
Climate-controlled family is the default evaluation for coastal/salt-air, high-humidity and otherwise harsh conditions, with separate engineering confirmation.
Defender thermal screening thresholds: Small 500 W, Medium 1,500 W, Large 2,500 W, Large+ 3,500 W, XL 4,500 W. These thresholds are preliminary power-screening rules, not proof of fit, ingress rating or suitability.
Projector & lens FAQ
Is 4K always better for projection mapping?
Not always. Image size, projector output, ambient light, surface texture, viewing distance and content detail determine whether extra resolution creates a meaningful improvement.
Can I use a short-throw projector for a building or an object?
Potentially. Throw distance, distortion, lens offset, surface geometry and mounting constraints must be reviewed with an actual projector model.
Will any projector fit a Homeline or Defender enclosure?
No. Dimensions, heat, airflow, lens alignment, cables and service clearance are all model-specific. Defender also requires environmental and thermal sizing.
Which projector manufacturers can you help evaluate?
BenQ is a priority partner; we also assess suitable models from Epson, Panasonic, Optoma, Christie, Barco and Digital Projection based on current model documentation.
Can you quote a projector with a complete mapping system?
Projectors, lenses, enclosures, media control and installation requirements can be reviewed together. The planned I Mapped It AIR and CLIMATE turnkey packages are upcoming products and are not ready-to-ship offers.
Start with your surface and projector model.
Measure the mapping surface, available throw distance and environment. We can then review suitable equipment, projection films and enclosure configurations against verified manufacturer documentation.
